What Is Fidelis Care Credentialing?

Fidelis Care credentialing is the review Fidelis Care, a New York State health plan owned by Centene Corporation, completes before a provider can treat its members in network. Fidelis verifies your license, education, training, board certification, malpractice coverage, and work history. To serve its Medicaid-based plans, you must also be enrolled in NYS Medicaid.
Steady Medical Billing manages the full process for New York providers by organizing documents, reviewing provider information, supporting CAQH updates, preparing applications, and following up until Fidelis Care reaches a decision.

How Fidelis Care Credentialing Works

Here is the path from first call to in-network with Fidelis Care. New York requires health plans to report credentialing status within 60 days of a complete application, so most of our work happens before anything is submitted.

1. Free Assessment
We review your license, NPI, taxonomy, CAQH profile, and NYS Medicaid status, then list exactly what is missing.
2. CAQH and Medicaid Check
We update and re-attest your CAQH profile and confirm NYS Medicaid enrollment for Medicaid-based products.
3. Fidelis Application
We prepare a complete, consistent application and submit it through Fidelis Care’s provider network process.
4. Follow-Up
We track your request with Fidelis Care Provider Relations and respond to every information request.
5. Contract and Effective Date
We review participation paperwork with you and confirm your effective date and plan lines.
6. Ongoing Maintenance
We handle roster updates, demographic changes, and recredentialing so your participation stays active.

Already in network and need recredentialing, a new location, or a roster update? We handle that too.

Fidelis Care participation is product-specific. Before we submit anything, we confirm which plans fit your practice and patient mix, and make sure your NYS Medicaid enrollment is in place for the Medicaid-based products.

Why Outsource to a Credentialing Team

Most Fidelis Care delays come from small mismatches: an expired CAQH attestation, a practice address that differs from NPPES, or a missing NYS Medicaid enrollment. Our team catches these before submission and follows up on every open request after it, so your staff can stay focused on patients.

Our team handles credentialing paperwork and payer communication, allowing your staff to focus more time on daily practice operations.

We review provider information and supporting documents to identify missing, outdated, or inconsistent details before application submission.

Our credentialing specialists organize your file according to applicable requirements, helping create a complete and properly prepared application.

We monitor credentialing progress and follow up on outstanding requests, reducing the administrative burden of repeatedly contacting the payer.

Well-prepared applications can help prevent avoidable delays, allowing providers to move through the credentialing process more efficiently.

We support ongoing credential maintenance, including updates and recredentialing requirements, helping practices keep their provider information current.

Fidelis Care Credentialing FAQs

Fidelis Care provider credentialing is the process Fidelis Care uses to verify a provider's license, education, training, board certification, malpractice coverage, and work history before the provider can see Fidelis members in network. Because Fidelis Care is a New York State health plan, it applies to providers serving New York members.

Most providers need a current New York professional license, NPI and taxonomy, an up-to-date and attested CAQH profile, malpractice insurance, a current CV with work history, board certification and DEA registration if applicable, a W-9, and practice details such as TIN and service locations. Requirements can vary by provider type and plan.

New York law requires health plans to tell providers their credentialing status within 60 days of receiving a complete application (Public Health Law §4406-d). Applications with missing or mismatched information take longer, which is why we review every file for completeness before it is submitted.

Yes. We support individual and group enrollment with Fidelis Care, including participation paperwork, roster and location updates, and payment setup, and we follow up until Fidelis confirms your participation.

Yes. We track expiring licenses, malpractice coverage, and CAQH attestations, prepare recredentialing information when Fidelis Care requests it, and submit demographic or practice changes so your file stays current.

For Fidelis Care's Medicaid-based plans, yes. New York requires providers who treat, order, or refer for Medicaid members to be enrolled in the NYS Medicaid program, and Fidelis Care can deny payment to unenrolled providers. We check your enrollment status before your Fidelis application goes in.

Fidelis Care offers Medicaid Managed Care, the Essential Plan, Child Health Plus, Qualified Health Plans, HealthierLife (HARP), Medicaid Advantage Plus, Fidelis Care at Home (MLTC), and Medicare plans through Wellcare By Fidelis Care. We help you confirm which products apply to your practice.

No. Fidelis Care works with DentaQuest for dental providers and Davis Vision for vision providers, so those providers apply through the vendor's own network process.
